Andreas Johansson

Andreas Johansson (b. 1968, Luleå, Sweden) is a self-taught Swedish abstract artist whose practice has evolved over more than three decades. Originally trained in photography and initially working with a camera, Johansson gradually transitioned to painting, developing an intuitive and emotionally driven approach to abstraction.

Working primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas, Johansson draws inspiration from the contrasting landscapes in which he lives and works. His studios are located on Österlen in southern Sweden and in Gran in northern Sweden, on his family farm. The expansive light, beaches and open landscapes of Österlen inform his sensitivity to light and space, while the forests and wilderness of northern Sweden inspire deeper, richer colour palettes.
